State of Airport Lounge Access 2026

Data report · 12 June 2026

How easy is it to get into an airport lounge in 2026, and what do you find when you do? We measured the question across the 303 lounges at the 34 airports we document — an average of 8.9 lounges per airport. A Priority Pass membership reaches 119 of them (39%); 139 lounges (46%) have showers; and you can pay to walk into a lounge at 30 of the 34 airports. Every figure below is computed straight from our lounge data, not estimated. See methodology.

This is the top-line of three deeper studies — the lounge density ranking, Priority Pass coverage, and amenity availability below. It describes the airports we document today, not every airport worldwide; the numbers recompute from the data on every update.

1. The footprint: where the lounges are

Lounges cluster at the big hubs. New York (JFK) leads with 17 lounges. The densest airports we document:

2. How travelers get in

Most lounges open more than one way, so these counts overlap rather than add up — they show how many of the 303 lounges each route reaches.

3. What you find inside: amenity availability

How common is each amenity across the lounges we document, and how many airports offer it? Showers and à la carte dining are far from universal; spa treatments and nap rooms are genuinely rare.

4. The most amenity-rich airports

Ranked by the average number of distinct amenities per lounge — a rough measure of how well-appointed an airport's lounges are, not just how many it has.

Methodology & sources

Every number and airport name on this page is computed at build time from LoungeList's structured lounge data — the same data that powers our airport guides and access pages. "Priority Pass" counts only lounges where Priority Pass itself grants entry (a membership access rule), never a third-party aggregator or an airline or alliance lounge mistaken for it. "Walk-up" means a genuine pay-at-the-door day pass, never a premium-cabin entitlement. Access-route counts overlap because most lounges open more than one way. "Amenities per lounge" is the mean count of distinct amenities across an airport's lounges. Each underlying lounge fact carries a source and date on its lounge page. This is a snapshot of the airports we cover, not a global census — it expands as our coverage does. Edition: 12 June 2026.
